Central East Energy Connect

Client LS Power Grid New York
Completion Date 2023
Location New York
Completed by The L.E. Myers Co. and MYR Energy Services, Inc.

For the Central East Energy Connect, which spans 93 miles of an existing utility-owned transmission line, L.E. Myers crews are reconductoring 230kV and 345kV transmission lines on existing structures and removing 230kV transmission lines on H-frame structures, replacing them with 345kV steel monopole structures in single- and double-circuit configurations. The project is designed to relieve a bottleneck in the New York state power grid, improving system reliability, increasing efficiency, and enhancing statewide accessibility to renewable energy.

Under the contract, valued at more than $250 million, MYR Energy provided project and construction management, material procurement, and construction services, including right-of-way clearing, environmental controls, foundation installation, structure assembly and erection, and conductor stringing.
