For this engineer-procure-construction (EPC) project, L.E. Myers crews transformed 32 miles of a 161kV wood, H-frame transmission line into a double-circuit 345/161kV transmission line with tubular steel monopole structures set on reinforced concrete pier foundations. We also expanded the right of way (ROW) width from 100 feet to 150 feet along most of the line, which features short sections of single-circuit design at either end when routing the 345kV and 161kV circuits into the Oak Grove (both 161kV and 345kV), Mercer (for 161kV), and Sandburg (both 161kV and 345kV) substations.
The final line length, with the short single-circuit sections and spans at the substation ends, is 33 miles.
